Summer Adventures in Alaska

Enter the habitat of wolves and bears, moose, caribou, small fur bearers and large winged raptors. Fish rivers and streams rarely visited. Denali West Lodge is located at Lake Minchumina, just outside the western border of Denali National Park and 100 miles from the nearest road.

We take only 10 guests at a time, which allows us to provide you with an exceptional Alaskan outdoor experience, without the crowds. You’ll be guided by an experienced naturalist, all day every day.

Lodge-based activities

Together with your naturalist guide, you’ll plan your days’ adventures according to your interests and the kinds of activities you enjoy, including lake, river and creek canoeing, hiking varied terrain, fishing, river boating, wildlife observation, photography and birding.

Flight-seeing options available

Our summer guests come to Denali West Lodge to explore our spectacular surroundings up close and personal, by canoe, boat, and hiking trail (and in winter, by dog sled). Flight-seeing is not included. However, we’ll handle the arrangements for flight-seeing adventures (weather permitting) out of nearby Kantishna, which can offer you access to more of the best of interior Alaska: Mt. McKinley, alpine tundra, spectacular mountain lakes below the high peaks, Wild and Scenic Rivers, traditional Native villages and the mighty Yukon River itself.
